It has always been my dream to be an inker in comic books. People often ask what that is, simple
put, an inker enhances drawings. Typically a comic book is not made by one person alone. It is more of an assembly line process.
There is the writer and the penciler, which could be considered the lead singer and guitarist of the band. Other jobs though
are broken down as: inker, colorist and possibly letterer.
The inker is like the bass player of the band. The
job of the inker is to select what it the most important thing in each panel and make sure that is seen first, and then go
down the list. Inkers create order on the page as well as enhancing definition and making the work ready for print. Some have
accused us of being "tracers" but it is a job much more complicated then that.
Right now I have
put up examples I completed for a Dark Horse inking test. Soon I will be adding work I have done on an independent comic,
as well as an anthology book I have been working on. There are plans to work for an upstart company as an inker in the fall
as well.
